Aughrim – Rope Access Netting

Client
Large geotechnical contractor.

Problem
Due to new legislation, Aughrim’s new landfill site required the erection of 1000’s of square metres of containment netting to enclose the whole landfill site to prevent birds entering and litter escaping. This inevitably required work at height as 40 – 50 metre towers and masts were required to hold 100’s of metres of rigging cables, which held up the containment nets. Access was also required along the rigging cables to attach and anchor all containment nets.

Solution
Rope Task supplied a team of highly experienced rope access rigging technicians who assisted in the erection of towers and masts. Once this had been completed all cable rigging and tensioning was carried out by Rope Task personnel working at heights of up to 51m. Once all cables had been anchored and secured, containment nets were lifted and using specialist rope access techniques, operatives gained access along the 32mm steel cables and secured the containment nets.
