NDT & Rope Access Services

NDT-new

Non Destructive Testing (NDT) is a wide group of analysis techniques used in various industries to evaluate the properties and condition of a material, component or system without causing damage. It’s advantages are that it allows minimum loss of production time.

SAFE & COST EFFECTIVE

These techniques are vital during fabrication to ensure a means of quality control and also part of routine inspections to ensure continued product integrity.

WHY USE ROPE TASK

Non-destructive testing coupled with rope access is a cost effective way of inspection in contrast to other methods of access, such as scaffolding or MEWP’s, due to the fact that rope access systems can be quickly and easily installed in areas that would be inaccessible by other means. There are a wide variety of techniques available which are tailored to the client’s requirements.

Our services we offer include:

Visual Inspection

Is the initial inspection method prior to employing other more complex Non Destructive Testing (NDT) methods. Many defects can be detected and characterised with visual methods, therefore saving the need for other forms of testing.

MAGNETIC PARTICLE INSPECTION (MPI)

Is a non-destructive testing (NDT) process for detecting surface and slightly subsurface defects in ferrous materials, i.e. carbon steel. Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) is carried out by introducing a magnetic field into a product to be tested, then a magnetic ink is applied to the test area. If a crack or discontinuity is present the magnetic particles will be attracted to the flaw, creating an indication, which can be evaluated to determine the causes and effect of the defect. This inspection technique is highly effective and reliable, however, can only be applied to test materials that are not covered with protective coatings.

DYE PENETRANT INSPECTION (DPI)

Is a non-destructive testing (NDT) technique widely applied inspection method used to locate surface-breaking defects in all non-porous materials (non- ferrous metals, plastics, ceramics). Dye penetrant inspection (DPI) is commonly used to detect casting, forging and welding surface defects such as hairline cracks, surface porosity, leaks in new products, and fatigue cracks on in-service components. DPI is a portable inspection method allowing for straight forward on-site testing.

ULTRASONIC INSPECTION (UT)

Is a non-destructive testing (NDT) technique used for detecting sub-surface defects using high-frequency sound waves. Ultrasonic testing (UT) can be used to identify defects in castings, wrought products and welds. Also, Ultrasonic Testing (UT) can be utilised to measure and determine a material’s thickness.
