Speller Metcalfe Construction gave us the task of high level cleaning to the new Perdiswell Leisure Centre Worcester. As the construction works were nearing completion, all high level steelwork needed to be dusted down and cleaned. Only experienced rope access operatives under the close supervision of an IRATA Level 3 could undertake this task due to the complex nature of the rope access and rigging that was required to complete the task.
Rope Task sent two experienced IRATA Level 3 supervisors to tackle this task, with more than 30 years experience between the two we were more than confident in their abilities. The Rope Task lads had 5 days to complete the cleaning of the steelwork, and managed to clean all of the high level cleaning within 4 days, all to the clients satisfaction.
Complex high level rope access skills were required to climb horizontally along the roof beams as well as rigging of a number of releasable anchors that could be moved from one location to another to aid in the difficult access cleaning works.
The main consideration of this task was the ability to rescue from height in case of an emergency. Only experiencedrope access operatives could undertake this degree of working at height, with the required knowledge and experience to rescue from such extreme locations.
