How do you remove an architectural feature suspended 25 meters off the ground between three high rise apartment blocks in the centre of Manchester?
We were given the challenge of removing the high level “Sphere” so that temporary mast climbers could be installed for essential cladding maintenance on the building. The problem was that the rigging cables holding the “Sphere” would clash with the upward movement of the mast climbers.
Rope Task used lifting equipment to safely remove and extend the rigging cables, so that the “Sphere” moved closer to one of the buildings which allowed the “Sphere” to be rigged with slings, lifted, all cables safely removed and the “Sphere” lowered to the ground.
This operation took in total 7 hours, without using cranes due to the difficult access and unstable ground below the “Sphere”
Again we proved what our specialist rope access team can achieve with the correct planning, assessment and experienced personnel.
