Facade Restoration at Derby Hospital – DOFF Cleaning & Render Painting

The Wave in Coventry is one of the UK’s most exciting indoor waterparks, featuring high-speed slides, a wave pool, and a winding lazy river. However, its intricate layout, with slides crisscrossing throughout the space, presents significant challenges for maintenance and high-level access.

Scope of Works

The restoration process was completed in two key stages:

  1. DOFF Steam Cleaning
The existing render had accumulated significant dirt and biological growth, which required a careful yet effective cleaning approach as to not damage the already declining facade. Our team utilised the DOFF steam cleaning system, a low-pressure, high-temperature method that removes contaminants without damaging the surface. This was crucial in preparing the render for painting, ensuring proper adhesion and long-term durability.
  2. Multi-Layer Render Coating
Following the cleaning process, we applied four coats of render paint (2 undercoats), carefully selected for its breathability and weather resistance. This ensured that the render was not only restored visually but also protected against future deterioration. Each layer was applied with precision to achieve a uniform finish, reinforcing the integrity of the building’s exterior.
Contending with autumnal weather, the entire scope of works were delivered on time, with no disruption to the daily on goings of the active hospital.
